The Hallam Art Group is a Sheffield based group, from the Lodge Moor area on the Western edge of the city. It is a section of the Hallam Community and Youth Association. Reg. Charity No. 523702
Meetings are held on Thursday evenings throughout the year in the bright and spacious Hallam Community Hall. All Art Group members are also members of the Community Association, which provides support as well as a superb venue.
It is a well established art group, formed in 1973, with close to 70 active members, who enjoy a wide range of activities, as well as the opportunity to pursue their art with fellow members. There are regular talks and demonstrations, DVD nights, life drawing and still life sessions, workshops and more. Members enjoy a library of books, current art magazines and DVDs, as well as visits to galleries and sketching outings.
There is no selection process to join. All are welcome, whatever their artistic ability. An interest in art is the only requirement. Numbers are restricted to 70 and priority is give to people from the local area.
There is no formal tuition but members are very willing to share their skills if asked. A number of members are well established amateur artists and are very willing to demonstrate their methods. Regular workshops are held for those wishing to develop their painting.
Regular exhibitions, currently two a year, offer the opportunity to display and sell work and paintings are also displayed for sale in a couple of local venues.
Hallam Art Group was a runner-up in the 2018 Art Club of the Year Competition sponsored by ‘Leisure Painter’ and ‘The Artist’ magazines.
